Vice President
As a "young" woman in her 60's I have MANY life experiences.. mostly working with people of all ages. Although I have had paid positions as a teacher, director, business owner, customer service crew member, and on & on, I have always managed to combine my passion for giving back, helping my fellow community member or co-worker and encouraging others to volunteer also.
I believe the reason I have this urge to help others is because I feel I need to do whatever I can to leave this place better than I found it...I want to make a difference. I have been incredibly fortunate to have held positions that I can fulfill this passion/need. As the "Community Relations Liaison " for JetBlue San Diego I was able to organize volunteers in ILACSD ( I Love A Clean San Diego) beach clean-ups, plant trees, & collect recyclables. We also held collections for the San Diego Food Bank & volunteered to organize the Food Bank Warehouse on a regular basis. I organized several visits ( with donations) to Rady Children Hospital, local community health clinics and, a school for homeless children. One of my favorite volunteer events that I coordinated was my "5 C Project" Collecting Caps for Children with Cancer in Columbia. We collected the plastic recyclable caps from water bottles and delivered them to an organization in Columbia that used them for various items which they sold and used the money to pay for summer camp & other activities for children with cancer.
Although I have retired, I continue with my need to help others and help the community. I have been delivering Meals On Wheels for many years. I "sprung" my 93-year-old mom from a nursing home in Pennsylvania five years ago and she comes for a "ride-along" to deliver meals every week.
